Inspired by the fantastic collection of beetles in the Oxford Natural History Museum
I have been filling up the pages of my sketch book
with these incredible creatures.
These drawings have been a starting point
for more enamel experiments.
The beetles give me an excuse to start using some bright colours.

The quote in it's fullness is So apt.
I can't remember if it was Darwin or one of his contemporary biology friends?....
Beetles would be fantastic in one of your enamel works.
(I JUST finished a beetle/grub woodblock print after a trip to our local natural history museum).
Wonderful subject. They really suit your medium and sense of colour. I do love your sketchbook pages.
Beetles have some amazing colours don't they? I do love the way you've placed them on backgrounds in your pages. Obviously another sketchbook that would be a joy to leaf through!
Sketchbook envy raises its ugly head again! You know how much I love those pages I suspect. Just wait till you get up close to those wonderful beetle collections. Can't wait to see what you'll then translate into enamel. Thanks for yesterday!
Fabulous & inspiring as always! Happy Birthday too xxx
I love the colouring of beetles, all those lovely petrol blues and greens and deep purples. I don't like finding them in my house though!
